Diving in Roatán, Islas de la Bahia, Honduras

TOBRI DIVERS ROATÁN DIXEN COVE will be opening its doors for the 2010 season. A new diving resort covering 7000 m2 includes a main building with restaurant, a diving school, pier, guesthouse and beach bungalows in Dixen Cove – one of Roatán’s most beautiful bays.

Personal service is our most important goal, along with the desire to pass excellent quality on to our customers. Roatán, in Honduras’ Bay Islands, is famous as the home of one of the world’s greatest varieties of hard and soft corals. Several of the best-known and most spectacular diving spots can are just a few minutes’ boat-ride from our bungalows.

On Roatán’s reefs, you will discover the widest range of corals in the entire Caribbean. Divers encounter a world of crystal-clear, warm water offering spectacular and colourful walls overgrown with soft corals, fans, whip and bush corals, as well as gardens of sponges and all types of hard coral. A short boat ride away, you can swim through canyons, cuts and canals, overhangs and caves, and explore kilometre-long reefs. A wide variety of marine fauna can been seen, including Brazilian grouper, moray eels, dolphins, whale sharks and even killer whales. Often, turtles and rays swim elegantly by. Even with daily dives, it would take a visitor months just to visit the highlights of Roatán’s amazing reefs.

Roatán lies 55 km north of Honduras in the Caribbean. The island is around 50 km long and 3 km across, with an area of 125 km2. A tropical mountain range covered in lush vegetation overlooks a fantastic coastline with white sand beaches. The average temperature ranges between 25 and 30 Celcius with a gentle cooling breeze. Humidity is around 65%. The climate is moderate, as on most Caribbean islands, with plenty of sun and occasional heavy showers which rarely affect diving. Be among the first to discover these untouched diving grounds.

Snorkelling: the TOBRI-DIVERS home reef is excellent for snorkelling. The corals are close to the surface, making it easy to observe a colourful variety of fish and corals.
